What Peace Could Look Like
This week, we continued our conversations about restoring peace by asking a simple question: What makes you feel at peace?
Many students shared that peace looks like playing video games, hanging out with friends, or finding a quiet space to themselves. From there, we expanded the conversation: What would school feel like if everything was at peace?
Their answers were honest and revealing.
“It would be quiet.”
“People would be in good moods.”
“There wouldn’t be so much yelling, cussing, or people being rude.”
One student paused and said something that stuck with us: “It’s hard to imagine… it would feel weird because it never feels like that.”
That moment captured both the reality students are living in—and the opportunity in front of them.
We reminded students that the peace they experience personally doesn’t have to stay private. The same peace they find in quiet moments or trusted friendships can be carried into their communities. They have the ability to help create environments that feel different—spaces marked by calm, respect, and care.
We’re already seeing that shift happen. In our groups, students are growing in how they relate to one another. They’re learning to be honest about frustrations without letting those feelings turn into conflict. This week, students were able to name when others in the group were bothering them—and then move through it without it escalating into something bigger.
That kind of growth matters. It’s not just about understanding peace—it’s about practicing it.
And step by step, conversation by conversation, these students are learning how to bring peace with them wherever they go.
