A Teacher’s Story — Finding Calm in the Classroom
Teaching is one of the most meaningful — and most demanding — jobs there is. For one PE teacher, the constant pace of classes, noise, and needs left her running on empty. She didn’t realize how dysregulated she had become until she attended our Teacher Mental Health Workshop in August.
There, she learned about the window of tolerance — a simple scale from 1 to 10 that helps identify stress levels and emotional states throughout the day.
A week later, she stopped by and said, “I’m at a level 9.” She wasn’t overwhelmed — she was aware. And that awareness allowed her to take a breath, reset, and continue her day with greater calm and compassion.
When teachers are cared for, they’re better equipped to care for their students.
At FOR Lakeland, we believe mental wellness belongs in every classroom — for students and educators alike.
